will my insurance cover a home birth?

Deal Score0

I had a horrific experience delivering my duaghter at the hospital and dont ever want to do it again! I want to have a home birth where I am more in control and can do it natural with support of a midwife. My question is, is it cheaper than a hospital birth and does my insurance cover it? I have ppo blue cross blue shield of illinois. When I think about being stuck in a hospital bed with lights shining down between my legs and mean nurses I just shutter! Please help!!!

Whether an insurance company will cover a procedure like this completely depends on the company. They may, or may not. You should call your insurance company and ask, or check the terms and guidelines of your policy. No matter what people here tell you, it’s best to be safe and check with the source– or you may get a nasty surprise when it’s too late, if the internet people turned out to be wrong.

Whether it is cheaper or not depends on your area, the specific services rendered, and if applicable the size of your insurance co-pay.

This question is really too specific to your own personal situation to be answered on Yahoo. You should contact your insurance company, and local birthing centers or midwives. The answer to this just isn’t the same everywhere.

No one here knows anything about your insurance policy. You have to check your policy or call your agent to find out what your coverage is.
Also, if you intend to use a midwife, she will know about insurance coverage and can assist you in finding out about yours.
