You can get your credit REPORT for free, but not your credit SCORE for free. You will always have to pay for your credit score. Any firm offering a “free” credit score will want your credit card numbers for their monthly credit monitoring service.

You can buy your FICO credit score for a one-time fee of $ 15.95 at:

There is a free credit score estimation service at http://www.creditkarma.com – this is only an estimation and not the real FICO score.
You can get a free credit REPORT (not score) at http://www.annualcreditreport.com – This is the real free site to get your credit report once a year without a credit card.

You cannot get your score for free, ever.

CreditKarma.com and Quizzle.com both offer free score estimators. They are not FICO scores, but are within 50 points or so. Good enough if you are just curious about your score.

If you want your real FICO scores, you have to pay for them at MyFico.com. Don’t waste money for any non-FICO score.

By the way, it really is more important to review your credit reports annually for accuracy (AnnualCreditReport.com). Do that and pay all your bills on time. Your score will take care of itself.

Your true actual FICO score is NEVER free. It will cost you under $ 20, and you can get it at myfico.com.

There are score guesstimators out there, but they are not going to give you the score lenders use to determine if you are qualified for a loan. They can be off by 50 or more points.
