What should I do for a living now that the Mortgage Industry is dead?

Deal Score0

Okay, So I’m 25 years old and I have been in the Mortgage Business for the past 5 years. The industry, in California at least, got annihilated within the past 6 months. It is extremely hard for a loan officer, such as myself, to make money in this market. I have 2 years left to complete my Bachelors in Business management and then want to pursue an MBA in business. I have been depressed because I am not very young anymore and I want to setup my life and not be a loser. I want a six figure job in the finance field but can’t seem to get a job anywhere. With my experience, one would think that obtaining a job is somewhat easy. This is not the case with me. I don’t get any calls in regards to my resume and I understand that I might not get a 6 figure job right away. I just need an opportunity with the right company. I guess my question is what line of work can I get into with my experience so I can make a steady paycheck? Commission is not working for me right now. Thank you.

You’d be wise to find some kind of a job to pay the bills, even if it’s nothing you want to do for a lifetime, and go back to school and finish your degree. Pretty much any decent job in the finance area is going to require a degree.

Six figure income with no degree in any field is a stretch, let alone finance. Get a degree and and MBA then you will be good to go!

    Good Luck!!!

You are right in you will take a pay cut. Your university should have a department that helps with jobs. Finish your degree. that is the most the very most single important thing you can do. The six-figure job will take some time. When you get that internship or a job, work harder than anyone else be known as the person who gets things done, is reliable, when people talk about you at work especially managment what you want to here is that you are great. I work at the same company as my wife I hear all the time from everyone how great she is and that she is amazing.
    Be great, Be amazing.

Work 9-5 Monday-Friday or work 9-job gets done Weekends if needed. the difference is a career or a job. In careers you advance, a job is that a job.
