help solve the Latino Dropout Rate? State Farm has provided NCLR a $ 3 million education grant to help in their goals to promote excellence in students, increase Latino graduation rates, and close the achievement gap nationwide. LA RAZA is constantly accused of being a racist exremist group that supports illegal immigration, but could it be that the people who run such a big corporationg like State Farm, know what LA RAZA is really about? What do you think LA RAZA helping Latinos succeed to help build a better America?

STATE FARM® BOOSTS COMMITMENT TO SOLVING LATINO DROPOUT RATE

BLOOMINGTON, IL. OCT. 2, 2008—State Farm Insurance ® is empowering Latino students, teachers and administrators today to help solve the dropout rate. Through a $ 3 million education grant to the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), State Farm will help NCLR in their goals to promote excellence in students, increase Latino graduation rates, and close the achievement gap nationwide. Approximately 2.9 million Latinos are enrolled in U.S. high schools—representing 17% of all secondary public school students—and are less likely than their non-Hispanic peers to complete high school.

The grant, paid over a three-year period, marks the first major contribution to NCLR’s Campaign for Stronger American Communities intended to strengthen the organization’s Affiliates, improve its programmatic outreach, and enhance its effectiveness and impact by strategically focusing financial, human and technical resources in the field on issues of strategic importance to Latino communities across the U.S., such as education. To support this work, NCLR is raising $ 15 million over the next three years.

“State Farm is a long-time partner of NCLR and has worked with us to strengthen Latino communities by supporting our education programs,” said Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO. “This latest commitment takes that work to a new level and supports our outreach efforts through our nearly 300 Affiliates. We’re excited by the prospective impact these grants will have on decreasing school dropout rates and building future leaders.” NCLR’s Affiliates reach throughout 41 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
Docar, if the illegals were given licenses, we wouldn’t have a lot of uninsured motorist in America.

ANYTHING with la raza is never good. If only the latinos that love la raza so much really knew their agenda. They do not care about latinos, only about money, power and politics.

National Counsel de La Raza, Is the biggest Latino advocacy and Civil Rights group in the USA.

State Farm Insurance, as a Corporation in the United States knows the “La Raza” mission of serving the Latino citizens in the United States.

Their actions are proof in denying the deliberate neo con lies in their “Climate of Fear” they are trying to spread in the country.

They will be doing a great service to the Latino Community by lowering the drop out rate !

I would like to thank them for their endeavor !

It’s a disgrace! Illegal aliens (mostly Hispanic) drive up insurance rates making more money for State Farm. 10% of my insurance bill is for “uninsured motorists”. This amount is unregulated in most states! In AZ alone 63% of drivers stopped have no license, registration, and insurance. Of that 63%, 97% are illegal aliens! You should be familiar with the death and injuries caused by illegal aliens drivers as in your state (CA) it’s 92% are illegal aliens.
I guess this is a thank you for killing and injuring Americans, thereby keep insurance rates high!
What the he!! is a company spending money on a racist organization when they should be spending the money on better service for their customers?

Just shaking them down for money like any other gangster.

This is how it went. La Raza approached State Farm and asked for this “donation”. If State Farm didn’t comply La Raza would’ve said that State Farm was racist and biased towards Hispanic drivers and would’ve implored all Hispanics to cancel their policies with State Farm.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton have made a very good living using the same tactics.

    Good Luck

You said the same thing about Verizon. My brother works for Verizon as a field tec, he spoke to some of his coworkers, and they did some research into the matter, and they are now putting together a petition to have that funding removed. Note: Two of the people putting the petition together are of Hispanic decent.

People keep stating in their answers that they are only coming over here for a better life for their kids. If that’s true then why is the dropout rate for hispanics so high? Why is their teen birth rate so high? Why are they so dependent on welfare benefits?
Is it a good thing for State Farm to do this? NO. They are just flushing peoples premiums down the toilet and I’m glad I’m not insured with State Farm or I would be changing companies. It seems several companies have decided to pander to the hispanic population instead of pandering to the people who pay for their services.

illegals still would not have valid insurance, even if they had licenses. It is a violation of the insurance contract to provide fraudulent information. The only way an illegal would be able to provide information, would be to provide fraudulent information, via fraudulent idendification/info or stolen identities. Any one who IS a citizen and has given fraudulent info to an insurance company already knows the recourse…. invalidation of contract, letting the insurance company off the hook. Basic contract law.

NCLR in my opinion is not tan extremist racist group , but a moderately racist group. I checked it’s page and they knowingly fund racist organization like Mecha. When I said Knowing, I mean they know MECHA is a racist group but rationalize that they continue funding them bacause they help latino students. It’s like me saying that I donate to the KKK because it helps caucasian students.

As for illegal immigration, the mostly support illegal immigration, but the agricultural part of NCLR has had it’s disagreement and claim illegal immigration is hurting hispanics and reducing salaries. At least that was the last statement I heard from Agricultural section.

TO sum it up. I am displeased that NCLR is getting involved. It is good that more money is going to education and hoping that NCLR finally decide to find new partnership in improving education while removing themselves away from racist organization like MECHA. I doubt they would though. As long as they are associated with MECHA , i will continue to believe NCLR is a racist organization. AS for their stance on illegal immigration, I have no problem with it as long as they don’t do anything illegal to support it. THis is a democracy and it’s a debate item, and even within NCLR, they are debating this item. they have the freedom to say what they want on it. I have heard allegations of illegal activites by NCLR in the construction industry, but they are rumours so far.

If they think that 3 million( or 30 million)
dollars will solve the high dropout rate(related to the /drug gang influence, cultural aspect of education, lack in family support) amongst Latino students, then I will sell them a Holy Cow.

What you stated to Docar about giving illegals licenses is like saying: we should give all the burglers what they wanted so they won’t be breaking into people’s homes and sometimes kill people for the money they steal. YOU DON”T BEND THE LAWS SO PEOPLE WON’T BREAK THEM.
I wish that one day you realize that your way of reasoning is exactly why the countries these illegals came from have been so messed up.

I think it’s the best thing that could happen! Nobody else seems to care about the Hispanics students, so someones got to help them. Just because this very well organized group likes to help their own people because the notice that nobody else does, they are considered racist. Maybe it’s really the racist in the accuser?

    Thanks for that information.
