What are some crafty ways to sneak books into your house?

My personal library is growing more and more, and my mother reeeeaaaaally doesn’t like it. All of my books are kept in MY ROOM, which is the basement, and so they’re out of her way. She says they’ll be a pain in the neck to haul around when we move this summer, and although I assured her I would move every single one of them myself, she’s forbidden me to buy anymore. I’m 18 and it’s my money. And I’m not buying in bulk, it’s just a book or two I pick up at the bookstore.
I’ve tried the, “Well, I could be buying drugs or booze or something!” line and even pulled out the, “Didn’t Daddy sell his personal collection to buy your engagement ring?” line. I’ve used these one too many times, I’m afraid.

*I am NOT going to get rid of my books. They’re like crack for me. Any book haters can shove their snarky comments where the sun doesn’t shine and get lost.*

I would really appreciate some ideas on how to sneak books into the house, as surreal as that seems.

    you rebel you.

No I joke. Don’t go for the “tucked under the shirt” method, it usually ends up looking like you’re pregnant with a box baby. Tucked into a bag sometimes works, but you won’t want to constantly carry around a bag. Suss, right?

How about the next time you go shopping, just slip one of the books into your bag? Then take them to your room and hide them somewhere. Like under the bed. I don’t know.

Ooh and for added effect, buy an electric light and read under the covers at night. That would just be so cool. Do this for me – pleeaassse?

you don’t say how many books that you have, but if you are like me, there comes a point when it’s time to let go. You can also start packing for the move now, and just box up a bunch of your books, putting them out of sight.

You might try book trading, keeping only your favorite books, for a win-win situation –
The bookcrossing approach is whimsical and FUN!

Every time you want to get a book, make sure you get something else from another store witha bag large enough to hide a book. It shouldnt be a very high priced item, because you obviously buy books quite often and after a while, that would get expensive. Just get a mint from Hot Topic or something. They’re only $ 1 and they’ll give you a bag if you ask for one.

Ahaha yes! Someone that loves books so much that they will never give it up, like me! My parents don’t like buying me books either and try to get me to go check books out from the library.

You could just put it in your bag or leave it in your car (if you have one I’m assuming) and wait till your mom is asleep or gone and sneak them in.

Awh! That’s so sweet that you’re dad sold his personal collection to just get a ring for your mother! I’m not sure if I’d be able to part from my books ever!
