Should I get earthquake insurance for my home in Sacramento, California?

Deal Score0

No quakes in the 30 years I’ve lived here, but it only takes one. . .

if you can afford it, yes. even minor ones can cause foundation problems, and you dont want to pay for that!

the whole state is going to sink into the ocean after the “Big One” so it won’t really matter

I would suggest that you do, even a minor earthquake can do serious damage to a home. If you think is too expensive for you, keep in mind that if something happens to house due to an earthquake and you have to demolish/rebuild due to structural (or foundation) damage…it wouldn’t be covered in your current home policy.

    Yea…. If you have a mortgage, I think it’s required, isn’t it?

Depends on how much of your current and future resources are tied up in your home!!
