You mean like when Jimmy carter signed the Community Reinvestment Act in 1977, forcing companies to lend to poor people despite bad credit?

So we have established that over many decades, many presidents have wanted to increase homeownership by reducing mortgage discrimination and increasing lending. We have also established that George Bush was NOT a fiscal conservative

but its nice of you to acknowledge that this is the government’s fault, just like we’ve been saying. Handing out $ 1 billion to poor people for housing…sounds a lot like welfare now doesnt it?

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, along with Democrats who have been propping up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are clearly and solely responsible for the mortgage mess. History cannot be changed on this site.

For the same reason they attack anyone who asks questions about the rest of the Republican Record. They know how badly their election chances will become eroded when their record is highlighted on the whole and in particular as your question does.

True. However, it was a Democrat Congress that put that bill together and announced it through the left wing liberal Democrat bias media. That’s why he signed it.

That is absolutely right. Barney Frank and other were pushing the ownership society that Bush talked about. He happened to be on the finance committee that approved the program. Republicans talk about whatever strikes a chord with their constituents even if they slander someone in the process. They are really heavy-handed in their tactics and much smarter than Democrats, who are like a deer caught in the headlights.
