Charged Off CCs Reporting 90+ Late Pmt Every Month

Charged Off CCs Reporting 90+ Late Pmt Every Month
divmecalede asked 3 years ago

I searched the forums because I’m sure this has been covered a million times, but I have a 4-year-old and ADHD, so I am having trouble finding anything. 🙂

I have an old Capital One card that was charged off years ago. Even though the status is Charge off, it is still OPEN on all 3 reports, reporting as 90+ days late every month on EQ and EX, and showing a balance of $ 2,285 with a $ 1,000 CL on all 3.

I initially assumed it wouldn’t be hurting my score too badly because it’s so old, but now that I realize it’s reporting LATE every month on EQ/EX and that it is still OPEN (and, therefore, counting towards my utilization), I’m wondering if it’s hurting more than I thought. My TU score is significantly better than the other 2; could this have something to do with it? (TU is not reporting any payment history – good or bad.)

So, my question is: Are they allowed to keep it open and reporting late every month even after it was charged off? If not, is it worth trying to get it updated or am I risking something worse happening?

Now that I look closer, I realize I have the exact same situation with a Walmart card, except the balance is $ 187 with a $ 100 CL.
