National City – Mortgage Portfolio?

Deal Score0

There is an article in the journal about Wachovia and when speaking off WB and NCC’s share price decline, the CEO of NCC says that the banks are like night and day and not to be worries. Then the article states: “National City’s woes relate to its abandoned push into mortgages in places like Flordai, far from its home turf.”

If it abandoned that push, why would that be a woe? I would think that would be good for the company that they didn’t aggressively pursue loans in FL.
