When you send out your resume, do you send it to a specific person?

Do you research the company to find out what they need and if you have the qualifications they are looking for?

You need to tailor your resume to the specific company that you’re applying with.

But also realize that with the recession, everyone else looking for work is having a tough time too.

As someone who has waded through piles of resumes…

You must remember that you have less than 2 seconds (really) to make enough of an impression to be READ. The volume of resumes is huge which usually means each resume is casually SCANNED into a ‘maybe’ pile and a ‘no’ pile.

Make your resume SCAN FRIENDLY. You can followup with detail and qualifiers in the first call. Right now you need them to be excited enough to call!

Move the first paragraph and the two relevant qualification details to a friendly, professional BREIF cover letter. Also add a comparison of exactly the Qualifications they listed in their ad and how you measure up to each one.

Add the “Qulifications” heading then bullet point your qualifications. Do not go into detail. You must have

This is no time for lectures or discussions.
    Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Candidate – Business
    Certified Tax Preparer
    Executive Manager
    Experienced Office Assistant
Full-Charge Bookkeeper with 5 years experience

I like the Professional Expreience. Nice.

If you are looking for clerical/data entry..keep it very breif and very simple.

Don’t give up. If this doesn’t work. Try something else!

    Good luck!
