Is it better to pay off newly delinquent credit cards or pay down balances on current, good standing cards?

Which would improve my credit score faster? I have some credit cards that went into delinquency, over 180 days and just recently placed with collection agencies. I also have credit cards that are not delinquent but do have high balances. Is it better for my score to pay down the balances or pay the delinquent cards?

Make minimum payment on your current credit cards and definitely pay on the delinquent cards. Your credit score will not improve if you have delinquent cards. Try to pay the minimum on all of your cards and if you can, more on the delinquent one with the smallest balance. You will be able to pay this one debt off and then roll the payment into the next smallest delinquent card until all the cards are current or paid. It takes time, but you will get there.
