I filed a claim with my Home owners Insurance (Texas-Farmers Insurance) and I wish to do the work myself, instead of a contractor to save money then how much does Farmers pay owners for hourly wages?

If you filed home owners insurance, you are in the wrong place to ask, this is car insurance. If it was indeed your car you’re asking about, are you a qualified body shop?

they will convert the estimate to an owner repair estimate. this is easily done with most home estimating programs that insurance compaines ues. You will not get the same pay as would the contractor and laborers as the skill level is not the same.

I don’t have tex farmers insurance but when my home was damaged by a hail storm the insurance company sent out an appraiser they estimated the damages and sent me a check. It was up to me how i spent the money and who did the work. I didn’t have a cost replacement policy so everything was depreciated out as to how old it was, 5 percent per year of age of each item insured and damaged. I had to do the work myself because the check didn’t even cover the full cost of materials. My check was for 1/2 of the cost of material in the amount of about $ 25,000 so that should tell you how badly my $ 52,000.00 house was damaged! BUT without that money I would have never been able to repair my house! AND I figured out that the insurance company paid me a lot more than I had paid out in 12 years of premiums and I now have have a brand new 1930 house!
