Selling our home. Is For Sale By Owner or other websites reliable, trustworthy and a good way to go? Who has experience with them? I need an answer from someone that is not a realtor.

It is an absolute joke! In this economy, this is a buyer’s market, and any buyer will have their own realtor (buyer’s agent) that they are working with. By having a FSBO home, you would be competing with the many homes listed on the MLS with realtors. Why would anyone look at a FSBO when they can find anything they’re looking for using their agent? Homes for sale by owner are few and far between. And to be quite honest, within 6-8 weeks of the FSBO sign going up, the sellers decide to list with realtors. You need to do that if you want your home sold. In a seller’s market like we had 6-7 years ago, a FSBO would have worked fine. But not now.

I would give it a try. In this market, you could sell one as easily as a realtor. Be prepared for calls asking if you would finance.

I know someone who tried this route; Majority of injuries were not legit, either looking for owner finance even though had terrible credit, or other type of scams,

A few where willing to trade, since my friend owned the home out right,

At this point, I believe this summer they are going to lower the price significantly, list it with a relator, again

the problem selling into this market; about 1/3 of sales are bank owned properties, plus 1/3 of today’s buyers are paying cash, these cash buyers are investors and are only looking for deals
