You can buy access to your various credit scores (each credit bureau has a somewhat different method) directly through the three bureaus or subscribe to a service such as “freecreditreport.com”

Credit scores, unlike credit reports are not free and you are not entitled to an annual look.

myfico.com is the best site for your true FICO score. The scores you pay for through annualcreditreport.com and such are not necessarily your true FICO

You will have to pay for the scores

I have been in the credit game for many years. I’ve seen a lot of people get into trouble because they have not properly monitored their credit reports. To answer your question, there are a few places that you can go to get a free credit report, but most of them will want you to sign up for a monitoring service of some sort.

I would highly recommend a monitoring service because it will allow you to “keep an eye” on your credit bureau and fico score.

Here is a service that I found that will allow you to sign up for a free trial:

    http://bargainhunteronline.net/credit-reports/idtheft-protection/free-trial

The nice thing about this service is:
    1. They will send you a free copy of your Experian report when you sign up.
    2. They monitor your credit files on a daily basis with all three main credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax & TransUnion).
    3. They send you monthly alerts that don’t count as a hit against you.
    4. They offer a FREE trial.

I’d give it a go, and if you decide to keep the service it is only $ 9.95/mth.

    * The only disadvantage is it is only available to US Residents.
