I am looking into buying a house in NY and wanted to know if I need to pay sales taxes up top of the sale price?

I’ve lived in many states and never paid sales tax when buying a home.
All you have to do is pay property taxes once a year (or add them in to your mortgage).

Not the normal sales tax like at the grocery store, but have no fear, you will pay taxes and fees out the wazoo before it’s finished.

Never heard of paying sales tax when buying a house.

However, I have heard of paying transfer taxes. This would include a city transfer tax, a county transfer tax or both.

Why wouldn’t you? Did NY repeal sales tax?
