Credit Issues?

Deal Score0

Ok, the yahoo community has convinced me to make an attempt at repairing my own credit. Question. Can I negoiate charge off’s with original creditors. Some accounts have not been turned over to collection agencies but written off as charged off. Can I negoiate with an original creditor to have these removed from my credit report?

That’s good that you’re taking the initiative to repair your credit, you won’t regret it. I’ve posted several links that can help you negotiate your debts and hopefully get them removed from your report

Yes anything is worth a try. All they can do is say no. But when I was buying a house my mortgage guy told us to tell them I am going to pay this much take it or leave it. Whatever they agree to get it in writing too. Good Luck to ya.

I really think you can. The worst that they can say is NO!
But really, why would they…if they charged it off, they were not expecting any money at all so whatever they get will be gravy….now when you do talk to them, if they do agree to the amount you propose, have them send that to you in writing before you send ANY money. Send them money via a postal money order (so you can track it) and you can also write paid in full on the money order to avoid problems later.
Best of luck you in and Congrats on your wisdom in trying to do it alone….
also go to http://www.ripoffreport.com and put in credit repair and see how many people did use on of those companies and how badly they got ripped off…then pat yourself on the back since you will NOT be one of those people

    its definately worth a try

most are willing to do a settlement and if they do then take them up on it

BUT….there’s always a but….they will probably “update” your credit report….not “remove” it

So if they say “yes we will remove it from your credit report” then GET IT IN WRITING

Have them fax something to you that clearly states that they WILL REMOVE it from your credit report (not update). If they hold up their end of the bargain then go ahead and pay them but not until you get that in writing
