Stay away from that one that you have to pay $ 200 bucks for.
Premier bank has a similar one – and it should be an outright scam.
The annual fees, and all the other fees, will put you in debt way over your head.

Get a secured card from your bank.
Go to your bank’s website and see if they offer one – most do.
Citi and Orchard banks have the best.

I suggest he makes every effort to clean up his credit.
Instead of puttin $ 500 to a secured card – I would use that cash to pay down bills.
With a secured card you must replace the balance in full each month for good credit.
Carrying balances, even in a secured card, devastates credit.

Credit is not repairable. Anything marketed as being for repairing credit is a scam. Getting a credit card while he still has other debts may make his credit worse. Right now, the best way to improve his credit is to use as much money as possible to make larger payments on the “past bills”. He should not try to get a credit card until after he pays those bills in full.

Keep paying your bills the best way you can. Even if you repay all your credit cards your credit score can still be low. Credit is primarily if the bank wants to give you a loan. I known some people to have really bad credit and still get approved for a loan.

I have no so good credit and I just brought a brand new car. One bank approved me and another didn’t so it’s really based on if the bank wants to approve you or not.

Have your husband go to the bank or credit union where you have your savings/checking and ask them if they offer a secured credit card.
