Can you help me with my credit score disaster?

Deal Score0

My credit score is in the 400’s and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve heard of these “credit rebuilding places” where you make one monthly payment to them and they send the money where it needs to go to help you. Does anyone know the name of a place like this, or can share an experience with me if you’ve tried it?

No, places like that can ruin your score even worse. The only thing you can do is to pay down your debts and make future payments on time and your credit score will gradually improve.

Many times those credit places simply take your money and never send anything along to the creditors. You do not need that sort of help.

Get a secured credit card. I just got one through Orchard Bank. You send in $ 200 for a deposit. They hold that money in a savings account and you get a credit card with a $ 200 limit. Having a $ 200 line of credit can boost your credit score up at least 20 points withing a few months of on time payments (it did to mine!)

That won’t fix your credit score….

Quit buying things on credit until you have your bills paid off..
make minimum payments to all of them, so they arrive 1 week before the due date.. except the one with the smallest balance, pay as much as you can on it until paid off, then move to the next low balance…

The key to high credit score..is how you pay your bills ..never late, and never-ever miss a payment…

First you need to find out where the bodies are buried. If you haven’t already, get a free copy of your report from each of the three bureaus from annualcreditreport.com.

Then evaluate any chargeoffs, liens, judgements, bankrupticies or whatever else is tanking your report so badly. Believe, me a few 30-60’s are not the issue here.

Call 800-769-371 for American Consumer Credit Counseling to see if you qualify for help and a reputable branch in your area. They can’t help everyone, but may be able to help you.

Do NOT go to some “credit repair place”. You need to look for a NOT for profit credit counseling service. They will have you get your bills together, and work on a budget with you and help you negotiate with the lenders to get your debt paid off. Most credit repair companies will take your fee (up front, no less) and do more damage to your credit score. A credit counseling service will NOT charge you a dime!!! If you have to pay a fee, it is NOT a credit counseling service.

    http://www.eufora.com

Those three should help you with your low credit.

NOPE, those places do little or nothing for you, except extract money from you.
You rebuild your credit the same way you ruined it, one month at a time. Pay your bills in full and on time. Stop using credit. Go to a nonprofit credit counseling agency for help. Take some personal finance classes. Plan for your future!
