Can I get a home equity loan if I already have a second mortgage?

    Most likely you will have to either refinance your 2nd mortgage into the new home equity loan or refinance the 2nd mortgage into the your first mortgage so that you can obtain a home equity loan.

    Generally not without paying off the second. No one wants to have the third lien position on the house, especially if there isn’t a ton of equity.

    absolutely we do it all the time.if your in fl e-mail me at capesgreat@yahoo.com if your in another state the answer is yes it is common allthough if the equity is there i would suggest refinancing all debts in to one loan.
