$65000/year in Alpharetta, GA is this a good salary?

Deal Score0

Got a job offer in Alpharetta, GA. The starting salary is $ 65000 plus benefits (medical, dental, 401k, pension plan, life insurance etc.)
Is this good enough for that area to maintain average middle class life style?
I don’t have any debts or loans, just a mortgage which is easily manageable.
I am currently looking for a house in Cumming. Is that a good area?
The actual starting salary is $ 66000, not a big difference but still…

Yes This is a great salary. If you have no debt life will be very managable, i believe you make better than most teachers so i think youll be just fine.

In high priced north Fulton county that is an average salary. If you are single and renting you can probably do fine on $ 65k. If you have a family and plan on purchasing a house you’re going to need $ 20K more.

Of course you don’t need to live in Alpharetta to work there. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in the surrounding area that you could probably afford much better.

Not knowing your business, is this what a usual starting salary is? If so, I”d say ‘jump on it!’ I know people who earn a lot less and live comfortably in North Fulton. If you stick to a budget and just have yourself to answer to, you’ll be fine. As McCoy said, you don’t necessarily have to live where you work. Some friends who ended up in Roswell and Alpharetta have expressed regret in not moving to Cobb County where the taxes are more favorable.

If you decide to stay in the area, you should be able to get a great deal on a nice home, with all the foreclosures……

If you’re not drowning in debt, that’s a great salary.

    Cumming is a great area.
